Ekaterina Ponomareva, one of our favorite makeup artists, talks about the latest beauty news and shows the fall 2022 makeup trends

The past fashion weeks in Milan, Paris, New York and London have marked many bright trends in makeup. Matte or radiant skin, bright eyes or lips, dark smokey eyes or sharp arrows? But the most important question is how to "integrate" fashion trends into the daily makeup of an ordinary girl? Let's figure it out together!

Matte velvet leather has been trending for a long time. But as we know, everything flows, everything changes, and fashion trends are very cyclical. Why does matte skin stay relevant?

  • She looks appropriate with any makeup.

  • Matte effect with daytime make-up allows you to look very well-groomed.

  • Matte skin looks balanced with both smokey eyes and bright lipstick.

  • Matte effect on the skin is suitable for women of all ages.

  • Typically, the matte effect is more durable and lasts up to 12 hours or more.

My model Zoya is a young girl, and I didn't want to make her a dull matte tone. So I carefully prepped my skin with Absolue Soft Cream before applying. The cream was instantly absorbed, leaving no stickiness or oily sheen. In a matter of seconds, the skin was saturated with the active components of the rose complex: native cells of the Lancôme rose, rose essential oil and French rose extract.

Good skin preparation is already 80% of makeup success, especially in the cold season, when the skin tends to be capricious.

I used the cult foundation Teint Idole Ultra Wear SPF 15 Foundation as a foundation. It gives a fashionable effect of velvety skin, skillfully evens out the tone and covers any imperfections.

Zoya has a round face and expressive features, so the width of the eyebrow should also be voluminous, and the tail should be a little upturned and flying. I used a thin pencil to create the perfect shape of the Brôw Shaping Powdery Pencil in shade 08 and with small strokes created the desired shape.

My model wants to avoid sharp lines and hard contouring, so I used the soft face sculpting technique. To do this, I blended dark powder (two shades darker than the skin) with a voluminous brush along the contour of the oval of the face and carefully painted a soft shadow on the cheekbones.

Let's move on to color accents in makeup, namely smokey eyes, which always keep up with autumn-winter trends. Smokey eye is the simplest and most effective makeup technique. Makeup artists recommend using at least two eyeshadow colors and carefully blending the borders.

Smoky's basic rule is that the darkest eyeshadow color should be along the lash line. This season, accuracy in eye makeup is not at all necessary. Smoke and grunge effect at the peak of popularity.

Such casual smokey eyes could be seen on models from the shows of Sportmax, Altuzarra, Christian Cowan and Bora Aksu.

For a lasting and rich result, I used Le Crayon Khôl pencil in noble gray shade 03 Gris Bleu as a base. And on top I applied two shades of shadows from the Hypnôse Palette 03 Brun Adore.

Remember that a smokey eye makeup won't look complete without well colored lashes! I highly recommend using waterproof mascaras in autumn and winter. There are many advantages: the mascara does not imprint, does not smear under snow and rain, and does not create a “raccoon” effect under the eyes.

I tinted my lashes with Hypnôse Waterproof mascara for an adjustable volume effect and a wide look. Hypnôse Waterproof Mascara is a waterproof formula that gives you up to 12 hours of wear, as well as a bright, expressive look and the volume of lashes you desire. The mascara contains a complex of provitamin B5 and jojoba oil, which protect and strengthen eyelashes, and also help to increase their volume by eight times! By layering mascara, you can independently control the volume of eyelashes.

As a finishing touch, I picked up two trendy shades of lipstick for Zoya.

The first - coffee with milk - finds echoes in the 90s. It was the time of the discovery of brown and chocolate colors and accentuated lip contour. Zoya is wearing L’Absolu Rouge Cream lipstick in a stylish shade 546. This lipstick fits perfectly into the concept of daytime makeup.

L'Absolu Rouge Drama Matte lipstick in a stylish shade 508 Mademoiselle Isabella is suitable for an evening out. I've never turned down bold lipstick shades myself, and I'm so happy to report that dark lip colors continue to be trendy. Proof of this is black lipstick on Blumarine models, dark blue - Gucci and vampire purple - in Versace.
